At the 2025 Yunqi Conference, the “Smart Devices, Future Living” exhibition drew crowds with a real-life experience of the home of tomorrow. As visitors step into the living room, AI sensors detect movement, gently illuminating the welcome lights. Sitting on the sofa triggers the AI Agent to automatically adjust the central air conditioning, air purifier, and smart sofa, creating a fully relaxing intelligent environment—without lifting a finger. In the bedroom, a simple command, “Tmall Genie, I want to rest,” activates the smart bed’s sleep mode while recording sleep data, and the lighting gradually shifts to a restful ambiance.

This is not science fiction. It’s the reality brought by Tmall Genie Whole-Home Smart 3.0, marking the dawn of the “spatial intelligence” era in smart homes—where the home itself perceives, understands, and responds.

Strategic Upgrade: Three Core Capabilities Building the Foundation of Spatial Intelligence

At the Yunqi Conference, Tmall Genie unveiled a full upgrade to its Spatial Intelligence strategy, focusing on three core capabilities to transform the industry from simple device networking to fully aware, responsive spaces.

1. Spatial Perception:
Powered by distributed spatial network hubs as the “neural center,” AI spatial and environmental sensors form a comprehensive perception network. This breaks traditional connection limits, integrating humans, devices, and spaces. Homes gain predictive intelligence: air purification adapts automatically, and windows close preemptively when heavy rain approaches.

2. Spatial Understanding:
Using Alibaba’s Tongyi large model, HomeAgent creates a collaborative cognitive system. It continuously learns household routines to act before being asked: switching seamlessly between sleep assistance, overnight monitoring, and wake-up routines, and automatically triggering night lights when needed.

3. Ecosystem Service Integration:
Through partnerships with top brands like Fotile, Serta, and Sidon, Tmall Genie launched the Spatial Intelligence Alliance, enabling multi-device, multi-scene coordination with a single command. Saying, “Prepare breakfast,” turns on the stove, lights focus on the cooking area, and warmth flows naturally throughout the home.

Three Technological Breakthroughs Reshaping Home Intelligence

1. Expanded Spatial Infrastructure:
The new Kunlun T20S distributed spatial network hub delivers a full-house WiFi 7 network, equipped with a high-end Qualcomm processor, 512MB flash memory, and 512MB RAM. Local processing and storage allow instantaneous scene control while safeguarding user data. Unlike previous setups, this “human + device + space” integration expands smart interactions beyond traditional appliances to smartphones, smartwatches, and more, enabling a seamless, truly intelligent spatial network.

2. Precision Sensing Evolution:
Each AI spatial sensor covers up to 64㎡, tracking up to five people simultaneously for precise positioning and scene coordination. AI environmental sensors monitor health indicators, learn user habits, and adjust devices for optimal conditions, achieving “five-constant” regulation (temperature, humidity, air quality, lighting, and comfort).

3. Self-Evolving Scenes:
Scene control evolves from rule-based to HomeAgent-driven spatial understanding and decision-making. Ambient settings now adjust automatically to environmental rhythms, without manual setup. Engineers demonstrated connecting a new air purifier in just 10 seconds, instantly activating the “air purification” mode. The system remembers habits and anticipates needs: closing windows before rain, automatically waking lights in the morning, ending the era of manual adjustments.

Ecosystem Expansion: Leading the Future of Smart Living

Behind these technological leaps is the rapid expansion of the Tmall Genie ecosystem. By 2025, it covers top-tier vertical industries, enabling seamless cross-category integration and over 70 flagship experience stores nationwide. At Yunqi, Alibaba launched the Genie Future Home Spatial Design Alliance, bringing together 100 leading designers to provide full-chain solutions from technology implementation to aesthetic scene design.

“Traditional smart homes are passive tools. Tmall Genie Whole-Home Smart 3.0 is an active partner. Spatial intelligence is not just cold technology or hardware stacking—it’s your home’s brain and life assistant.” — Zheng Fangzhou, Head of Tmall Genie Whole-Home Smart Division

When lights follow your movements, the air conditioner senses comfort, and new devices integrate naturally into daily routines, your home evolves from a static space into a living entity that truly understands you.
